What the notetaker produces
After a recorded call: a transcript, a summary with action items, and a searchable record. The recap goes to everyone on the invitation by default; the account owner decides who receives it.
| Output | What it contains |
|---|---|
| Transcript | Full text with speaker labels; transcription in 100+ languages. |
| Summary | Overview, key topics, action items; customizable sections. |
| Search and AskFred | Search by keyword, speaker or timestamp; questions answered from past meetings. |
| Recap email | Sent to invitees by default; distribution is set by the account owner. |
How it joins a meeting
The notetaker does not join on its own. One of four things happened.
- 1. Calendar auto-join. A participant connected a Google or Microsoft calendar to the service; by default the notetaker joins that person's meetings that carry a conferencing link.
- 2. Invitation. Someone added fred@fireflies.ai to the calendar event.
- 3. Added live. A user added it to the ongoing call from the dashboard or the Chrome extension.
- 4. No participant at all. The desktop app and the Chrome extension capture audio without a participant joining; an indicator is shown instead.
Removed within the first 3 minutes, it creates no transcript or notes. Removal steps by platform and role →
For your own meetings, the notetaker runs under your account, with auto-join limited to the meetings you choose. The Free plan has no time limit.
